As the year winds down to its end, we find ourselves in a unique, kind of nothingness place. These curious days between Christmas and New Year’s can feel like a kind of no mans land!
But could this time of year, when we often forget what day it is, be an invitation to pause, rest, and reflect?
For many of us, this week feels strange right? The usual routines and rhythms of our life are disrupted, and for most of us the pace slows down dramatically. It’s easy to feel a little bored or lost. But energetically, this time is incredibly powerful. Like a magical portal where we get to release the weight of the past year and prepare to step into the new one with more clarity and intention.
The hustle and bustle of Christmas is behind us, but the energy of the new year hasn’t yet arrived.
This in-between time can feel like a lull, but it’s also a rare opportunity to step out of your usual routines. It’s a time when the world collectively slows down, creating space to rest and reflect.
The Energy of the In-Between
Energetically, Twixmas is a threshold between what has been and what will be and in spiritual traditions, these in-between spaces hold incredible potential. They are moments to surrender, breathe and recalibrate before taking your next step.
In this space, you might feel the pull to either “do something” or distract yourself from the stillness. But leaning into this pause is where the magic happens. When we allow ourselves to rest and reflect, we create the energetic space to release what no longer serves us and invite in what we truly desire.
Why Allowing Yourself to Get Bored Is Good for You
How often do you allow yourself to do… nothing? In our fast-paced world, boredom is something we tend to avoid. But research shows that boredom is actually good for the brain.
When we’re not overstimulated, the brain’s default mode network activates. This is the part of the brain responsible for creativity, problem-solving, and self-reflection. Boredom gives your mind the space to wander, process emotions, and come up with fresh ideas.
So, if you find yourself staring at the wall or daydreaming this week, don’t feel guilty—embrace it! Those quiet moments are where insights and inspiration are born.

5 Ways to Embrace the Magic
Looking for ways to make the most of this in-between time? Here are five ideas:

- Take a Walk in Nature: Bundle up and head outside for a mindful walk. Let the stillness of the season mirror your own inner calm.
